Summer school

During the week of September 11-15, 2023, we organized a summer school on the topic of The War in Ukraine and its Security Implications as part of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme. Our partner universities, including the University of Helsinki (Finland), the University of Tartu (Estonia), the University of Warsaw (Poland), and Matej Bel University (Slovakia), had the opportunity to send their master’s students, PhD candidates, and academics to participate in seminars on the impacts of the war on Eastern and Central European countries; international politics of the Global South; environmental consequences of the war; and ongoing debates on accountability for human rights violations and crimes against humanity.

These seminars were complemented by interactive teaching formats, including the simulation The Isle of Ted: Cooperation versus Conflict, and a series of workshops reflecting innovations in academia and research, such as the increasing use of AI applications and podcast production. The participants also attended two excursions, one to the DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, and another to sites in Prague that commemorate the Soviet invasion of 1968 and the subsequent occupation of Czechoslovakia. This study program was open not only to selected international partners but also to students of MUP.
